Designed as an ultralight friction folder by custom knifemaker J.D. van Deventer, the Boker Plus Voortrekker got its name from the Boer pioneers in the Cape region of South Africa. It has a non-locking, stonewashed D2 blade with an extended tang level that helps with opening the blade. Thumb pressure on the tang when the blade is open allow for secure use without the necessity of a locking mechanism. Extremely light weight, the Voortrekker has a clip-free black G10 handle and carries safely via a compact Kydex sheath, set up to be worn as a neck knife.
Brand new, direct from Boker Knives.
Blade: Made from heavily stonewashed D2 for everyday utility, the clip point blade tapers to a fine piercing point while the high saber grind provides good slicing performance and durability. An extended tang allows for the blade to be opened and closed smoothly for fast, one hand operation. The non-locking construction makes this knife legal in many areas that restrict locking knives while still offering a quality cutting tool you can count on.
Handle: Slim, sleek and lightweight, the handle is construction of contoured black G10 with a stainless pin construction. The partial back spacer protects the blade when closed while jimping on the extended tang gives traction for secure use when the blade is open. Adjust the Torx pivot for your preferred level of tension in operation.
Carries via a Kydex sheath with stainless ball chain. No clip.
D2 Tool Steel: D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. D2 has a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) which gives it greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels making it semi-stainless. D2 offers a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance for a good all around knife steel.
