In 1915 Heinrich Boker & Co. Solingen received a government order to develop a compact fighting knife that would be especially useful for trench warfare. After 90 years, they are reproducing the original knife blade out of C75 carbon steel for a modern interpretation of the original design. The Solingen Trench Knife includes a pronounced steel cross guard, walnut wood handle scales, cowhide leather sheath and official tang stamp, all identical to the original design. Each piece is serialized on the back of the blade.
Brand new, direct from Boker Solingen, Germany.
Blade: At over 5.5 inches in length, the C75 carbon steel blade is a formidable weapon with a spear point swedge for enhanced piercing and saber grind for balanced slicing and durability. A full tang construction adds durability to the stout carbon steel blade. Care is required to prevent corrosion.
Handle: The full tang supports dual walnut scales attached securely with pins and grooved for a secure yet comfortable grip. A pronounced steel cross guard offers added safety in use.
Carries via a cowhide leather sheath with frog loop closure and metal tip.
C75 Carbon Steel: C75 is a classic, non-stainless, carbon steel used by Boker for special projects in their Solingen factory. Carbon steel soon develops its typical blue-gray patina that is not a flaw but a natural property of the material.
